Terms of Use

Last updated: 19 July 2026

The short version. Fretride is free to use, with an optional Pro subscription billed through your Apple ID. The music you write stays yours. Please don’t redistribute the app’s lessons or audio samples as your own.

1. Who you are agreeing with

These terms are an agreement between you and Eugene Kuchynski, an individual based in the Republic of Belarus (“we”, “us”), covering the Fretride mobile app and the website at fretride.com (together, Fretride). By using Fretride you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use it.

2. What Fretride is

Fretride is a guitar practice and songwriting tool: a fretboard and harmony visualiser, a playback engine, a tab editor, a pattern library, lessons and practice games. It is an educational tool, not a substitute for a teacher, and we make no promise about how quickly you will learn anything.

3. Your account

You can use Fretride without an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping access to it secure, and for what happens under it. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.

4. Fretride Pro subscription

  • Fretride Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly or yearly. The exact price for your region is shown in the app before you confirm.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.
  • Purchases, renewals and refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms. We cannot issue refunds directly — refund requests go to Apple.
  • A free tier is available and does not expire. What it includes, and what Pro adds, is described in the app and may change as Fretride develops.

5. Your content stays yours

The songs, tabs, progressions and patterns you create are yours. We claim no ownership of them. You grant us only the limited permission needed to run the service — to store your content, sync it to your devices, and back it up — and nothing beyond that. If you choose to publish or share something, you grant the people you share it with the access that feature implies. Delete your content or your account and that permission ends.

6. What belongs to us

The app itself, its design, its lesson material, its pattern library and its recorded audio samples belong to us and are licensed to you for personal use inside Fretride. You may freely use them to practise, perform and write your own music. You may not extract, redistribute or resell the samples, lessons or library content as a standalone product, or as part of another product.

7. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, except where the law expressly allows it.
  • Try to bypass payment, or to obtain paid features without paying for them.
  • Disrupt or overload the service, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours.
  • Upload or share content that is unlawful, or that infringes someone else’s rights.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules.

8. Availability and changes

Fretride is developed actively, and features may be added, changed or removed. We try not to break things you rely on, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability, and cloud sync depends on services we don’t control. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid subscription provides, you can cancel and stop future renewals.

9. Disclaimer and liability

Fretride is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data that you have not kept a copy of. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including, for consumers in the EEA and the UK, your mandatory statutory rights, which these terms do not affect.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Belarus. If you use Fretride as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings there.

11. App Store terms

The following apply because Fretride is distributed through Apple’s App Store:

  • This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple. We — not Apple — are solely responsible for Fretride and its content.
  • Your licence to use Fretride is a non-transferable licence to use it on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Fretride.
  • If Fretride fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Fretride, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to Fretride, including product liability claims, any claim that it fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or privacy law.
  • If a third party claims that Fretride infringes their intellectual property rights, we — not Apple — are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using Fretride.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
