Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 July 2026
The short version. You can use Fretride without an account, and most of it works entirely on your device. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and there are no third-party tracking or analytics SDKs in the mobile app. Audio from your microphone is analysed on your device in real time and is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
1. Who we are and who this covers
Fretride is made and operated by Eugene Kuchynski, an individual based in the Republic of Belarus. For the purposes of the GDPR, Eugene Kuchynski is the data controller for the personal data described here.
This policy applies to the Fretride mobile app for iOS and iPadOS, and to the website at fretride.com. Where the two behave differently, it says so.
2. Information you give us
An account is optional. The app is fully usable signed out; everything is then stored only on your device. If you do create an account, we store:
- Your email address — used to identify your account and sign you in.
- A display name, and optionally a short bio and profile picture, if you choose to add them.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and, where you allow it, your name from that provider. We never receive your password. Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real address behind a relay address, and that works fine here.
3. Content you create
Songs, tabs, chord progressions, patterns and lesson progress are saved on your device. If you are signed in and have an active Fretride Pro subscription, this content is also synced to our servers so it is available on your other devices and survives reinstalling the app. Your content is private to your account unless you explicitly choose to share or publish it.
4. Microphone
The practice games can listen through your microphone to check the notes you play. This audio is analysed on your device, in real time, purely to detect pitch. It is never recorded, never stored, and never transmitted — not to us, and not to anyone else. The app asks for microphone permission before this happens, and the games work without it if you decline.
5. Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether a subscription is currently active, so it knows which features to unlock.
6. Analytics and tracking
- Mobile app: no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the app does not ask for permission to do so because it does not do it.
- Website: fretride.com uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — pages visited, approximate region, browser type. This is not linked to your Fretride account. You can block it with any standard browser or extension setting.
7. Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers, each only for what it says:
- Supabase — account authentication and storage of synced content.
- Apple — App Store distribution, subscription processing, and Sign in with Apple.
- Google — Sign in with Google (if you use it), and Google Analytics on the website.
These providers process data on our behalf. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
8. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on these bases: to perform our contract with you (running your account and syncing your content); your consent (microphone access, and website analytics cookies); and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and working.
9. How long we keep it
Account and synced content are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile and your synced content from our servers. Content stored only on your device is removed when you delete it or remove the app.
10. Your rights
You can access and correct your profile in the app at any time, and you can delete your account — and the data attached to it — from Settings, without contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to a copy of your data, to restrict or object to processing, or to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these, write to YauhenKuchynski@gmail.com.
11. Children
Fretride is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to YauhenKuchynski@gmail.com and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
Our providers may store and process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
13. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
14. Contact
